Get to know Samie Jo!
TCTP: What was your favorite show you were a part of in high school?
SJJ: Oh man! That’s a toss up between our all-female production of HAMLET or THE RIVALS by Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
TCTP: Have you actually read Moby Dick?
SJJ: Yup! All 135 chapters of it!
TCTP: What is a piece of classical literature you would love to see turned into a musical?
SJJ: Oooooh! Is One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez considered a classic yet? Because wow that would make such a beautiful, epic musical!
TCTP: Do you have a personal white whale? What is it? (Interpret how you wish.)
SJJ: Ironically enough, my personal white whale has to do with *not* killing whales, or any other form of wilderness and wildlife. I’m out here trying to live my most eco-friendly life and want to encourage everyone to do the same! Reduce, reuse, recycle people! Cut back on your plastic and meat consumption! Unplug your chargers and appliances when you’re not using them! Meditate on how dope the stars, and plants, and animals are every now and then! Come chat with me so we can exchange tips and tricks on living green in the city!
TCTP: What’s the most thrown together show you’ve ever done?
SJJ: Ha! I was once in a musical based on Jack and the Bean Stalk where we collectively decided on opening that 50% of the lyrics were just gonna be “da nah nah nah nah nah nah” because that was our best bet at that point.
