Hannah Mary Simpson is thrilled to make her TCTP debut! She graduated with degrees in Theatre and English Literature and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from Ohio Wesleyan University, but she has never read Moby Dick. Favorite Chicago credits include Theatre Momentum, Odd’s Bodkins, Late Night at Pride Arts Center, and A Dead Whale Productions (how fitting!) Many thanks to her amazing friends, boyfriend, family, and cat for their love and support!
Get to know Hannah!
TCTP: What was your favorite show you were a part of in high school?
HMS: The Fantasticks! I played Luisa when I was sixteen, and this show is the reason I decided to make my life all about theatre.
TCTP: Have you actually read Moby Dick?
HMS: Alas, I have not. Please don’t take away my English degree− would you like me to analyze a sonnet for you?
TCTP: What is a piece of classical literature you would love to see turned into a musical?
HMS: TheScarlet Letter. Just think about all of the DRAMA and the BALLADS and the SEXISM.
TCTP: Do you have a personal white whale? What is it? (Interpret how you wish.)
HMS: The CTA. Interpret that as you like it.
TCTP: What’s the most thrown together show you’ve ever done?
HMS: I was once in a community theatre production where we finished painting the set at 8:40 PM on opening night. Curtain was at 8:00 PM.
