TCTP: What’s your nerdy guilty pleasure/What’s your fandom?
DM: Runescape is by far my nerdiest and guiltiest of pleasures. It was so much of a guilty pleasure that I couldn’t even mention the name of the game to anyone but a select few without blushing a deep shade of red, due to the fact that we were still playing it LONG after it stopped being cool (or is it making a comeback? Can I come out of hiding now?). The amount of hours spent Dungeoneering and going on quests was downright embarrassing, but I loved every minute of it. It was so easy to get lost in the vastness of its pixelated Wilderness, and the music became annoyingly catchy and nostalgic.
TCTP: What clique were you in in high school?
DM: I was in the Theatre Kid clique in high school, surprise surprise! I did feel special since I was one of the younger members. Our usual post-rehearsal hang out was at the Starbucks on the corner, where we drank liquefied sugar before riding the train home our respective ways. We ALWAYS played charades at our cast parties. We could be unapologetically weird together and could gush to each other openly and without a filter.
TCTP: What secret did you have as a 15 year old?
DM: As a 15 year old, my dirty little secret was that I had found out the password to my parents’ computer. I would get up in the middle of the night, sneakily type in the not-so- difficult password, and just go on Runescape. I was caught red-handed one time, and didn’t have any good explanation. Sometimes, I just needed to continue on my quest at two in the morning.
TCTP: If you had a month to live, what would you do?
DM: I would travel to a new place every day, and make sure that I’ve explored as much of the Earth as possible. I’ve always wanted to see the Aurora Borealis and to ride a hot air balloon, so those would be at the top of my list. I would also encourage my family and friends, “this trip’s on me,”and spend a good amount of the traveling eating, to be honest.
TCTP: Who would you play as? Demon queen, dark elf, half orc wizard, or rogue gnome?
DM: Demon queen, all the way.
