Get to know Dana!
TCTP: Jesse gets in trouble a lot at school. Were you a troublemaker as a kid?
DYC: I was never a trouble maker! I was a lover, not a fighter ;)
TCTP: This is a show where characters (and the actors themselves) break the fourth wall. How do you feel about breaking the fourth wall, when you're working on a show? How about as an audience member?
DYC: As an actor, I love breaking the forth wall (mostly in a comedy). Sometimes it helps the audience relax and be more open to laughter. However as an audience member, (more so watching a drama) I get uncomfortable when an actor looks me in the eyes. I don't know why, I guess I don't always know how to respond and it breaks the fantasy.
TCTP: What distracts you?
DYC: Music and my son's cute face are my biggest distractions. Put the two together and I will instantly forget about whatever I was doing.
TCTP: In the play Mama has a big decision to make about Jesse’s future. what kind of decision maker are you? You do research? Make a pro-con list? Trust your gut? Something entirely different?
DYC: I am very indecisive. Life altering decisions, i do my research. Decisions that aren't too serious, I go with my gut, pick 2 choices and play any-mini-miny-moe...2 or 3 times.
TCTP: Jesse loves rap. His parents don't love that he loves rap. What kind of music did you listen to as a kid?
DYC: I loved rap music as a kid, but it was not my mother's favorite. I took my sister's Lil Kim's "The Notorious K.I.M." album and I would listen to it everyday. I would tell my mother I was listening to Pink, but little did she know, my walkman was a little more...colorful. Helped shape me into the woman I am today
