Get to know Sierra!
TCTP: Jesse gets in trouble a lot at school. Were you a troublemaker as a kid?
SB: As a kid I was pretty shy and I was actually really scared of getting in trouble with adults. That all changed when I was around Natalie’s age and I realized that skipping school was wayyy more fun than showing up for chemistry class.
TCTP: This is a show where characters (and the actors themselves) break the fourth wall. How do you feel about breaking the fourth wall, when you're working on a show? How about as an audience member?
SB: I think breaking the fourth wall as an actor is so much fun (if it’s called for and if it’s done well within the context of the show). As an audience member it’s a delight to follow along with the characters in a way that’s almost jarring.
TCTP: What distracts you?
SB: Social media seriously distracts me. I catch myself checking it 24/7. I should probably do a social media cleanse or something because my soul is currently trapped inside Instagram.
TCTP: In the play Mama has a big decision to make about Jesse’s future. what kind of decision maker are you? You do research? Make a pro-con list? Trust your gut? Something entirely different?
SB: When it comes to decisions, I’m the WORST. I can never make a decision, I hate having to do it, and I usually make other people make decisions for me. Every once in a while I’ll just…do before I even have to decide. I enjoy spontaneous me way more than stick in the mud decision-maker- less me.
TCTP: Jesse loves rap. His parents don't love that he loves rap. What kind of music did you listen to as a kid?
SB: I was obsessed with Britney Spears when I was a kid and my mom was NOT a fan. My friends got to go to her concerts but I wasn’t allowed. When I wanted to dress up as her for Halloween, I wasn’t allowed to because all the costumes showed your stomach. I’m pretty sure this is the reason why I own only crop top shirts now…Britney is still queen.
Come see Sierra and the rest of the cast of DISTRACTED, running September 8 - October 7 at Prop Thtr.
