Get to know Tommy! :

TCTP: In the play, Megan learns about Japanese Mizuko shrines. What is one of your favorite myth/story/belief from another culture or religion?

TF: I am fond of the myth of the Minotaur, however not the classic Greek tale we're so often told but rather the version presented in "House of Leaves." "...King Minos did not build the labyrinth to imprison a monster but to conceal a deformed child, his child."

TCTP: There are multiple times in The Water Children when Megan is at a loss with what to or where to go. Have you ever felt lost or adrift?

TF: Probably at least once a day.

TCTP: Every character in this play shares their opinion and gives advice, whether it's asked for or not. Do people often come to you for advice? Or are you the one who seeks advice?

TF: I have been told I am a good listener however I don't think I am much of an advice giver. I do think we're all seeking advice of some sort.

TCTP: Forgiveness is a major theme of The Water Children. When is a time you had to forgive, whether is was another person or yourself?

TF: I have had to forgive myself for my many mistakes however I do acknowledge that they are what has lead me here.

TCTP: The play kicks off with Megan taking an acting gig that she is not exactly thrilled about. What’s a terrible job you had to take, theatre related or otherwise?

TF: I actually recently had a moral conundrum similar to the one Megan faces. I had a chance to be a part of a commercial shoot for a major cigarette company. The job paid well but I would, in a way, be supporting Big Tobacco.  After some deliberation and speaking with a few friends I ended up taking the gig and it was a pretty good experience overall.

Come see Tommy and the rest of the cast of The Water Children, running June 10 - July 8 at The Vault at Collaboraction Studios in the Flat Iron Arts Building
