Nathan’s last show with Cuckoo’s was The Heidi Chronicles and he is so thrilled to be working with them again. Previous Chicago credits include Wormwood (Halo ONE productions) Border Crossing (Something Marvelous), and Year of the Rooster (Red Theatre). Love to the entire cast and crew of Stop Kiss for their incredible talent and hard work, Cuckoo’s Theater Project for giving him this amazing opportunity, family and friends for their endless support, and his girlfriend Annabel for making incredible margaritas. He is a graduate of the Boston University School of Theatre. Enjoy!
Get to know Nathan! :
TCTP: When was a time that you stood up for yourself? Did it work out in your favor?
NW: I’m a bit of a people pleaser and sometimes sacrifice my own happiness for the happiness of others. I think I’m this way because my parents repeatedly told me when I was a kid that“it’s always about the other person.” They were trying to teach me selflessness but I think they went a bit too far. When I was in high school I was having a really bad day (don’t remember why) and got in a fight with my mom. She told me to that I was acting out of line and to “be nicer to people” and I remember yelling, “All I ever do is be nice to people” I think it was then that she realized she has pushed selflessness a little too far and she later apologized.
TCTP: Callie is a not-so- secret foodie. What’s your favorite restaurant in the city to bring friends to?
NW: Little Goat Diner
TCTP: Stop Kiss takes place in the 90s, so what’s one thing from that decade you would want to bring back?
TCTP: Have you ever been an innocent bystander in a situation? What did you do?
NW: When I was in elementary school I definitely witnessed other kids, sometimes friends, getting bullied. I was a shy kid so I mostly gave into the bully’s fear and put my head down. I didn’t know what to say to the bully that would make them just go away and not escalate the situation further. It felt horrible and there are some instances that happened about fifteen years ago that I still feel bad about today.
TCTP: Straddle or Swerve?
NW: Swerve (even though I really wish I was straddle)
