Meet the team of MOBY DICK! THE MUSICAL - Alex Avery (Lighting Design)
Alex Avery is the current Resident Lighting Designer at The Aloft Loft Circus School when he is not working as a rigger with Chicago Flyhouse. This is his first theatrical design since his year spent on the National Tour of DIRTY DANCING. Previously, Alex has worked with Chicago companies such as Strawdog Theatre Company, Black Mamba Theater, and Lifeline Theater and is looking forward to rejoining the Chicago Theatre Community.

TCTP: What was your favorite show you were a part of in high school?
AA: Little Shop of Horrors
TCTP: Have you actually read Moby Dick?
TCTP: What is a piece of classical literature you would love to see turned into a musical?
AA: I would love to see Catch-22 turned into a musical
TCTP: Do you have a personal white whale? What is it? (Interpret how you wish.)
AA: That space between the oven and the counter that food falls into that is almost impossible to clean.
TCTP: What’s the most thrown together show you’ve ever done?
AA: The most thrown together show I've worked on is a physical movement show devised in 3 days. Had to find a 3ft wide spool in 12 hours.
