Meet the team of DISTRACTED - Nathan Wainwright (Dad)

Nathan is thrilled to be a part of DISTRACTED! He has worked with companies such as Red Theatre, Something Marvelous, the Second City Training Center, and Runcible Theatre Company. Love to family and friends, his dog Felix, and Annabel. Thanks to Cuckoos for this incredible opportunity!

Get to know Nathan!

TCTP: Jesse gets in trouble a lot at school. Were you a troublemaker as a kid?

NW: I wasn’t a trouble maker as a kid...usually. I never got sent to the principle’s office, but when I was in middle school a friend and I prank called our classmates. One of the parents found out and told my mom. She was really upset and I got grounded for a month.

TCTP: This is a show where characters (and the actors themselves) break the fourth wall. How do you feel about breaking the fourth wall, when you're working on a show? How about as an audience member?

NW: When I’m on stage I don’t mind breaking the fourth wall! It’s a lot of fun to be able to talk to the audience. When I’m in the audience it’s a different story. I don’t mind if an actor is talking to me, but when someone on stage starts looking for audience participation I get nervous.

TCTP: What distracts you?

NW: Too many things to count.

TCTP: In the play Mama has a big decision to make about Jesse’s future. what kind of decision maker are you? You do research? Make a pro-con list? Trust your gut? Something entirely different?

NW: I’ll usually go to friends and loved ones for big decisions. I need people to ground me when it comes time to make a big decision because I tend to over think things.

TCTP: Jesse loves rap. His parents don't love that he loves rap. What kind of music did you listen to as a kid? Did your parents approve?

NW: I listened to a lot of stuff as a kid. One of my favorite albums was American Idiot by Green Day. I don’t think I ever listened to it with my parents because I thought they wouldn’t like the swearing. Now I have a younger sister- she’s ten years younger than I am- who plays songs in front of them that are more profane than anything on American Idiot, and they don’t say anything! If I had known that that’s how my parents would’ve take it I probably would have played it for them.

Come see Nathan and the rest of the cast of DISTRACTED, running September 8 - October 7 at Prop Thtr.
