Get to know Grace!
TCTP: Jesse gets in trouble a lot at school. Were you a troublemaker as a kid?
GD: I wasn't so much of the troublemaker, but the scapegoat. I am #4 or 5 kids, and for some reason my siblings always found a way to wreak havoc and blame me for it! I would then seek revenge in sneaky ways though... mwahaha
TCTP: This is a show where characters (and the actors themselves) break the fourth wall. How do you feel about breaking the fourth wall, when you're working on a show? How about as an audience member?
GD: I personally LOVE breaking the fourth wall. It can create an opportunity for some great theatrical and human magic. You never know how the audience will react - it can make them uncomfortable, it can seriously touch their souls, they might say something back to you - who knows! To me, breaking the fourth wall is one of the joys of live theatre. As an audience member, I eat it up!
TCTP: What distracts you?
GD: Facebook. TV. Shiny sparkly things. But for real - rhinestones and glitter distract me real hard. And my cat, Lyra! She's real good at distracting me with her cuteness.
TCTP: In the play Mama has a big decision to make about Jesse’s future. what kind of decision maker are you? You do research? Make a pro-con list? Trust your gut? Something entirely different?
GD: I'm a mix of all those - Research, depending on the type of decision (and because of my dramaturgy background), pros/cons list if I'm really torn or on the fence about it, but I've really been trying to trust my gut lately. I've been doing that more, and every time I feel a billion times better about my decision. Trusting intuition is something I think a lot of people have a hard time doing, but it's important to listen to that innate wisdom inside your soul.
Come see Grace and the rest of the cast of DISTRACTED, running September 8 - October 7 at Prop Thtr.
